In 1964 Leo and his team at Fender Electric Instruments began to roll out their latest design of Fender Piggyback Amplifiers. These new amplifiers featured updated circuitry and a fresh aesthetic. These amplifiers were outfitted in an all-black tolex with black knobs, a black panel, and a flat vinyl handle instead of the previous “Dog Bone” Style made popular from the amps from 1961-1963. This particular amplifier is from the early “CBS” era and features the AB763 circuit. It delivers smooth and balanced clean tones with that classic Fender sparkle on the high end. Both the output and power transformer date to 1966 as well as the choke. This amplifier retains all of its original blue coupling capacitors and resistors. The electrolytic capacitors are original, but it is recommended that they be swapped out for a new set.
This 1966 Fender Bandmaster is in very good condition. The Tolex is in great shape and shows very small tears on the corners and sides. The face plate is very readable with minor scratches and dings. The Chassis has some writing scratched into the back on the right side of the vibrato pedal jack. The amp retains its original piggy back legs but no vibrato pedal is included. Modern 3 prong chord has been installed.
